Hello there. If you land on this article looking for opinions about CXL, there is something you should know before. First of all, welcome. I was in the same situation as you are, and I know how hard it is to find genuine reviews in this magic world. I will be 100% honest with you.
Please read the following disclaimer to better understand the reason behind my review on CXL.

This will be a long review. So, if you are seeking quick answers, this is not the right place. I will try to make it as entertaining as possible.

Disclaimer

This article reviews just the CXL growth marketing minidegree (not all the CXL courses). The review is written by an actual user, me (Diego). BUT… it is not entirely bias-free. My experience with CXL is due to them granting me a scholarship (yes 100% courses). We know that in this capitalistic world nothing is for free and there is always a bilateral exchanging. Santa Claus does not exist, and it is not a drama only for children. Instead of money, the CXL scholarship program asks you to write 12 posts sharing your learning outputs and impressions with the mini degree. So yes, this review is biased but just for the fact that I am grateful to CXL. As a broken AF graduate (like me) trying to start a marketing career, it is very stressful to gain useful knowledge for free. Giving back to the community by delivering free education to people unable to afford expensive courses is per se a great reason to buy CXL products.

A little bit of contextualization. CXL growth marketing minidegree is a 111h long course (111h 42min to be fair) composed of 9 modules. In this article, I am going to review part of the third module: Data and Analitics. I usually review one whole module per article but I did not have the time to finish this one in just one week. I had to prepare three interviews and I am quite confident to say that I land these interviews because of the credentials earn through CXL. For the review of previous and following modules have a look at the bottom.
I would like to take a more unusual review by talking about people instead of contents. Growth marking video courses are approximately the same all over the industry. What really matters is how growth marketing has been taught, depending on teachers, not contents. So, today I am going to talk about the best Google Analytics teachers that I have ever experienced. His name is Chris Mercer

Chris Mercer talking about Google Analytics for Beginner

Chris is a very talkative person that repeats a single concept or notion multiple times. And though you can think is a boring approach, it is very useful if you are a total newbie of Google Analytics. This course lasts 9 hours and 17 minutes and it will walk you through all the basic features of Google Analytics. The first 8 lessons are all about getting to know Google Analytics. So if you haven’t ever used Google Analytics is great. For instance, I already took a class about it but I have never used it in the real world, so these lessons are pure gold. A great advance of Chris’s approach is that very practical. He uses the demo account of Google Analytics to explain each report in it and that is great because you also can use the demo account. For the ones of you that do not know, the Google Analytics demo account is an account created by Google for its merchandise store that can be accessed by everyone. This is very important because you have real data to practice on. Besides, Chris will show you also his Google Analytics account with data from his website to teach you to feature that in the demo account are blocked. Crish will giude you step by step in every single aspect of Google Analytics.

Great takeaways from Chris’s approach is that some lessons are dedicated to the understanding of the algorithm of Google Analytics. He will explain to you how Google Analytics stores data and so, how you can modify its setting to better reflect your intention about data tracking and data analysis. And that is what the other 10 lessons talk about. In addition, Chris is very much about practice as the best way to learn. So each lesson ends with a list of homework you can run on your Google Analytics or on the demo account to better familiar with the tool and the notions taught.

Chris Mercer talking about Intermediate Google Analytics

Some approach as before but here things get pro. Chris will help you take a step further into the use of Google Analytics. It is not yet a super-advanced course but the notions in it will make you stand up from the competition. The first part of this course is about data cleaning. A concept I found very useful because if you are trying to optimize a business there is not a better way to optimize than having access to more accurate and precise information. Then Chris moves into the customization of your Google Analytics to better reflect your business audience and funnel. Lastly, a series of tips and tricks are given by Chris to perform a really advanced analys
